Water

“If they’re crabby, put them in water.”

–SARK, How to Really Love a Child

Water is cleansing, refreshing, and critical for life. Sometimes all that is needed to shift your child’s mood is a warm bath, a water table to splash about in, or a sprinkler to run through. This can work wonders for parents as well. If you’re feeling crabby, put yourself in water. Set aside time for a soak in a bathtub or jacuzzi, a swim in a pool, or dipping your toes in a nearby body of water. Even simply washing your hands or face mindfully or sitting and sipping on a cool glass of water can help you reset. Listening to the sound of rain or ocean waves can calm the mind.

How can water support you in your practice of living and parenting mindfully?
